Las Fallas, Valencia – Like partying in a warzone

The European Bazaar project – to visit Europe’s strangest festivals – is well under way, and it could not have chosen a better starting place than the Las Fallas festival in Valencia, Spain.

Combining art, music and enough explosives to rival the US nuclear stockpile, Las Fallas is a whirling maelstrom of colour and noise. And the whole city gets involved! From towering sculptures of exquisite beauty and humour, to 9-hour long processions and marching bands, Las Fallas is a festival aimed at overloading your senses.

And the best is yet to come. Tomorrow night will be the climax of the three week long party, and it ends in a way you won’t believe! Stay tuned to One Small World when we will bring you our helpful Cultural Survivor Guide.
